Episode Thirteen - Television Reporter

Television ReporterAs a television reporter you will have an exciting job that allows you to touch many people's lives. Not only are you the first to know about major local and world events, you often get to witness them in person. You may travel on assignments around the globe. You may interview world leaders, celebrities and many other interesting people. Most reporters have a degree in journalism or radio, television and film from a university. Many reporters started by working on their school newspapers while in High School and on their college Television Stations while in college.

When you first start out many reporters get their first jobs reporting for small local stations and work their way up to larger stations and markets. Top reporters can eventually work for major networks. 


Episode Fourteen - Architect

ArchitectArchitecture is the art, science and business of building. An architect is trained and experienced not only in the design and construction of the built environment, but also in endeavors ranging from conceptual problem solving to project management. Today architects are engaged in the challenging historic task of creating new buildings or retrofitting existing structures and in participating broadly in the concerns and affairs of society. This professional concern may range from furniture design to city form and from community involvement and social change to development economics or technical research.

Today's architect may practice as an individual, or in a small, medium or large firm; the architect may be either self-employed or salaried; the architect may work for an institution, a development company, or a large organization. To be an architect requires a special range of qualifications - design talent, engineering ability, social awareness, business aptitude, and legal knowledge. An architect usually has a degree from an accredited University that takes at least 5 years to complete. 


Episode Fourteen - Tailor

TailorTailors design, cut and make clothing according to specific requirements. Clothes in a boutique or in a small business enterprise are manufactured on a much smaller scale than in a factory. Tailors usually make most of the outfits themselves. In large production concerns, the manufacturing process is divided into different tasks, and a different person performs each task but in a small industry, the tailor performs most of the tasks. Tailors must enjoy working with clothes and have an interest in fashion, color and style.

They must also work quickly and accurately. No specific qualification is necessary for other workers in the clothing industry, since each training institution has its own entrance requirements. However, working with your hands and a flair for design will be helpful.  


Episode Fifteen - Dentist

DentistDentists examine patients teeth and gums and correct dental problems. Most dentists work in private practices and deal with a wide variety of dental problems. They fill cavities, pull teeth, and try to prevent dental disease. They examine X-ray images of teeth for cracks and defects. Dentists also apply sealants and repair fractured teeth. They may make molds to replace missing or pulled teeth. Sometimes they apply crowns to strengthen teeth. Dentists instruct patients on proper brushing, flossing, and use of fluorides. Dentists use instruments such as drills, mirrors, and scalpels. They give anesthetics and write prescriptions. Dentists often hire dental hygienists to handle routine preventive care, such as cleaning teeth.

This allows the dentist to focus on more difficult dental procedures. Dentists in private practice have administrative tasks. They may supervise bookkeeping and billing. They may order equipment and supplies. Dentists also hire and supervise workers, such as receptionists and dental assistants. Some dentists specialize in one of eight areas. These areas include orthodontics (straightening teeth), oral surgery, pediatric dentistry, and periodontics (treating gums). Other specialties include prosthodontics (making artificial teeth and dentures) 


Episode Fifteen - Rodeo Rider

Rodeo RiderFor everyone that dreams of being an astronaut or fireman, there is one that dreams of being a cowboy. The image of rodeo that many people get from the media is a bunch of tough, stupid heathens. That is certainly not true. There are as many types of rodeo cowboys as there are types of football or soccer players. Rodeos have timed events such as calf roping, barrel racing etc. And they have rough-stock events like saddle-bronc riding, bareback riding and bull riding. Timed event cowboys and cowgirls usually live a life style that involves riding horses, working with animals etc. But rough-stock riders see themselves more as athletes than cowboys.

They may wear jeans down on their hips, have their ears pierced or even long hair. They may or may not own a horse or live on a farm or ranch. But they train and practice all the time. They go to special weekend or week-long schools to improve their form, style, or balance. Many colleges, especially in the West offer scholarships to Rodeo Riders.


Episode Sixteen - Librarian

LibrarianLibrarians are much more than the stereotype of days gone by. Today, they are technicians that are responsible for research and maintaining computer card catalogs and more They must know lots of information, including knowledge of standard reference materials and the more obscure. The increased use of computers means that librarians must be technologically inclined, but still with clerical tasks. Librarians work closely with people so they must maintain a helpful and friendly attitude, no matter how difficult the person may be. Librarians can be instructors as well, assisting people with accessing data.

Librarians work in a variety of settings. Some librarians work for public libraries. Some in school libraries. Those in school are usually licensed as Librarians, because they teach students how to use the library. . They also help Teachers obtain instructional materials and can assist students with assignments. Some librarians work in government libraries, museums, and laboratories, where their work is usually research. Others can work for law firms.
